How to Get Full Text Articles

Three Ways to Get Full Text Articles

The Three Methods

  • Find a Journal -- Access all of the journals to which the Library subscribes. We pay for the journal access and you get access for free.
    • The link to the Journal search engine can be found on the Library's navigation menu under Research.
    • Search by journal title in order to find a journal. After accessing the journal, locate the specific article that is needed.
  • Google Scholar - Access journal articles that are available without subscription on the Internet (if you find relevant information that requires a subscription, contact the library for assistance.)
    • When searching Google Scholar, search for the specific item (e.g. article) you need. You do not search by journal title.
    • You can search with an author's name combined with keywords in the article title. Or you might do an exact search for the article title by putting quote marks around the title.
  • Interlibrary Loan - Library services that provides access to full text articles that you cannot find for free using the library's list of journals or Google Scholar.
    • Interlibrary loan allows you to request items which we will get from another library for you.
    • There is no charge for this service; wait times can vary from hours to days or more.

Employing the Three Methods
When you have a citation for an article, but not the full article, you can start by searching either Journal Finder or Google Scholar.

  • If you don't find what you need in Find a Journal, then try Google Scholar.
  • If you start with Google Scholar and don't find the full article, then try Find a Journal.
  • If you cannot find the full text of the article, you can submit an Interlibrary Loan request form.
