For more information, refer to the "About Research Assistant" pop-up instructions and/or the "Privacy and disclaimer" link located at the bottom of the Primo Research Assistant sidebar.
The Primo Research Assistant, located in the catalog's navigation menu, is a Large Language Model (LLM) AI tool. It searches through the DSU Library catalog for books, articles, and newspapers to answer your question and provide resources. To access this tool, you will need to login to the library catalog with your DSU credentials. By clicking on the filter icon in the search bar, you can specify the type of materials for the AI to search for (peer-reviewed articles, journals, books) and specify a date range.
The answers are formatted with the five most relevant sources the Research Assistant pulled from the catalog and an AI-generated summary of the content. Clicking on a source provides you with the source's abstract, as well as an option to see more details and to request the item. If you want to continue your search, select the "View more results from your library search" option located at the end of the source list. This will take you the full search results list where you can further filter down your results.
To help get relevant and accurate results, your search query needs to be specific and precise, using key terms that relate to your research topic and not writing more than one question at a time. You can ask your question in any language, but do note that some sources are not available in every language and may not appear in the Research Assistant's answer because of that. Your search history will be saved and accessible through the Research Assistant for the duration of your session, but will be erased upon closing your browser window.
