For more information on Statista's Research AI, refer to the Research AI information page.
Statista's Research AI uses semantic search and Cohere to search the Statista database and then uses Claude 3 Sonnet to generate content insights/summaries. Research AI provides a paragraph of summary and context with the three most relevant sources to answer your prompt. It then follows up with multiple suggestions for further query and content sources to explore. You can also edit your search query by selecting "Edit query" at the bottom of the page next to "New query." Research AI can search and answer in multiple languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
Research AI only searches through the Statista database, which is carefully curated and validated from a wide spectrum of credible sources. Search queries need to be limited to the topic of statistics in order to receive a useful response. While the chances of error and falsification are lower than with other AI tools, there is still possibility for error when using Research AI, so proceed with caution.
Statista's Research AI Chat is a more informal version of its Research AI Tool. You can use the Research AI Chat to explore a specific question and ask follow-up questions, much like with popular LLMs like ChatGPT. The Research AI Chat still uses the same AI as the Research AI Tool and only pulls answers from Statista's database, making its answers fairly reliable. The Research AI Chat answers questions by giving a "TL;DR" sentence, a paragraph summary giving a more detailed answer, and three core statistics it used to answer your query (it provides a link to its source on the right hand side of the chat). You can then ask follow-up questions to dive deeper into your query. The Research AI Chat can save your chat history if you sign-in to an individual account.
To access the Research AI Chat, simply toggle the switch located at the top of the Research AI Tool in the Statista database.
